Remember
I appreciate my fans and especially those that took the time to read Myth in its entirety, but remember that I am not here to save you. I am not your therapist. I am not your psychiatrist. I am not your friend. I simply publish art on the internet and you engage with it. That’s not to reduce the impact I might’ve had on you, it’s just a reality check. Sharing a bit about yourself when saying thank you is perfectly fine, but sending me The Great Wall of Yap about your entire life and every detail about the current situation you’re in unsolicited and asking me for answers to your problems is not ok. I find it incredibly disrespectful. I am no one’s property. I owe you nothing. We do not know each other. If someone establishing boundaries makes you feel some type of way you need to reevaluate yourself.
I don’t want to discourage my audience at all from sharing their thoughts and feelings about my work and how it’s impacted them. I love interacting with my audience. But I have received messages in the past that had nothing to do with my work and was essentially them thinking if they just vent their entire life or situation to me that I’ll magically produce the perfect solution. Of course that’s very different from discussing my work and how something I published was relevant to one’s life and that’s why I’m clarifying. My DMs are not the dumping ground for repressed emotions you’ve been looking for.
